SSC JE 2026 Exam Pattern
The SSC JE 2026 selection process is conducted entirely through Computer Based Examinations (CBE), held in two stages: Paper-I and Paper-II. Both papers consist of Objective Type, Multiple-Choice Questions only, and questions are set in Hindi and English.

Other Key Points on the Exam Pattern
- IS 456:2000 Code of Practice and Steam Table will be made available on-screen during the exam when required, and a Scientific Calculator will also be available on the candidate’s screen — no physical version of either is allowed inside the exam lab
- Marks are normalized if the exam is conducted across multiple shifts; Electrical and Mechanical branches, as well as the IMD streams (Part-D/E/F), are normalized against each other as if they were separate shifts
- Minimum qualifying marks: 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS, and 20% for all other categories, in both Paper-I and Paper-II
- The standard of engineering questions is approximately equivalent to a Diploma in Engineering level (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), while Computer Science & IT, Electronics & Telecommunication, Physics, and Telecommunication questions are set at approximately graduation level

Paper-I Syllabus
General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision-making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, and questions testing the ability to deal with abstract ideas, symbols, and their relationships.
General Awareness: Current events and everyday scientific observations, along with History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, and Scientific Research relating to India and its neighbouring countries. No special study of any discipline is required.
Engineering subjects in Paper-I cover the same broad topic areas as Paper-II (listed below) for the stream chosen by the candidate, at a foundational level.
